They were the biggest help

Emily's friend had depression and was self-harming.

They were the biggest help

"They gave me tips and suggestions for my friend."

Emily, 13

"My friend wanted to die and was hurting herself."

As she moved the phone towards me I saw that she had hurt herself. It was horrible. I never knew someone could do something like that. I screamed and asked her why. It turns out my fun, bubbly, happy best friend actually had depression. I was shocked and scared for her. Later she was calling me crying and saying how she wanted to die and didn't deserve to live. She even tried to take her own life.

I was so worried for her and couldn't take it anymore.

I went to a friend's house and we were talking about it and one of my friends suggested ringing Kids Helpline. I had no idea what it was. I rang up and they seriously were the biggest help. It pulled a lot of stress off me and they gave me tips and suggestions for my friend. I told my friend about them and she rang up and tried things they suggested. She no longer has depression and is five months clean of self-harming. I just want to say thank you so much Kids Helpline.
