Diagnosed with epilepsy
21 year old female
Hi everyone! At the age of 10, which is quite rare, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. My 1st big seizure was in a pool and I almost drowned.
As the years went by though, it got much worse with more types of seizures and my bad behaviour. I also gained a lot of weight due to all my pills I was taking and didn't eat breakfast and lunch, and at dinner, I would throw it all up.
I now have minimum brain damage from the seizures and from not eating properly as well, also from not sleeping properly, because I would sleep at 4am.
So I called Kids Helpline at the age of 13 for my help to happen. I also knew it just wasn't my health problems though. I knew that I had family issues too, and they did a great job on helping me through it all. I knew their number from an ad I had seen before, so I just remembered about them instantly and I'm glad I did, because they really do help you.
Even now I have another illness which means my epilepsy will never go away, but I'm still a happy and lucky girl. I'm now engaged to be married and I'm just so excited. So the lesson here is, that it's possible for anybody in the world, even you, to find true love and happiness in your life as well.
