Things started to go downhill
14 year old female
I had just started Year 9 when things started going downhill. One of the family's closest friends had just passed away, people at school started to give dirty looks, ignore and gossip, mixed with the stress of harder school work.
My mother also suffers from an illness that can be controlled, if only she chose to. This can make her very abusive, both mentally and physically.
While the bullies at school did all these things, my mother would just add more to the pain. I was suicidal at the time I found Kids Helpline, through the Internet. I had gone to a counsellor before, but that was before I was forbidden to ever see her again.
I sent my first email to a counsellor and ever since then, I still find help on Kids Helpline. Counselling through email did not instantly bring a solution. I still faced bullies, parent pressure, personal grief and the suicidal thoughts.
Sometimes, I actually went as far as to the point of attempting suicide. Kids Helpline, though, helps you slowly, but surely through times when you need someone who can help you.
Kids Helpline has helped me solve many problems and overcome challenges. The best thing a person can have is support.
