My parents and I moved from my hometown in the UK when I was 7. We knew absolutely nobody, and had left behind all our family and friends in the UK. I had absolutely no friends and was constantly bullied in school because of my strong accent and (then) pale skin. I was envious of all these beautiful people with their golden tans and confident airs. My parents were very busy and I didn't feel as though I could talk to them. I eventually did let my feelings out to a teacher (after throwing an eraser at them ...) and she helped me greatly with everything. Now, after a few years of hurt, I have many wonderful friends and have gained a tan :)
