When I moved out of my sister's house and went to live with my father, I thought it was going to be great. I was very wrong. As soon as we got out of his parents' place and we moved into our own, the abuse started. It first started with the emotional abuse and the mental abuse, however after a while it went to physical and sexual.
I had lots of close friends but I was so ashamed and scared to tell them about what was going on, that I didn't. After one really bad night of abuse I decided to call Kids Helpline. I spoke to a really good counsellor and they convinced me that it would be better to tell an adult and get away from my father, than to keep living there and being abused.
Kids Helpline was there for me when I felt as if I couldn't tell anyone what was going on. Now, thanks to them, I am living a life without abuse and I have started to smile again.
