Mum and dad fighting (11 year old boy)

mum and dad fightingI rang Kids Helpline because mum and dad were fighting all the time. Our house was getting fixed up and it was a big mess and it costs a lot of money and I think it was making them really mad. Mum doesn't think it's going to be fixed soon so she was pretty sad about that. I was scared my mum and dad might get divorced because my friend's mum and dad were fighting last year and they got a divorce. It would be really bad because mum would want me to live with her and dad would want me to live with him and I'd feel really bad picking which one because I love them both.

I didn't tell them I heard them fighting but kept thinking about it at school. I told Kids Helpline about all this and he said it was okay and normal that I felt scared. I said I should talk to mum and dad at dinner about them fighting. They told me they're not getting divorced so I rang the counsellor again and told him. Mum and dad were really happy that I talked to someone at Kids Helpline.
