Things you might like to try
Some things that kids have told us helped them are:
- Thinking of ways that made the problem seem smaller
- Remembering things they are good at
- Doing stuff that got them away from the problem for a while
- Doing a fun activity
- Trying something new or that they hadn't done for a while
- Talking to friends or family about the problem
- Asking an adult for help
- Ringing Kids Helpline
When you are going through a tough time, it can be really useful to think about things that might help you, for example, you might:
- Remember some good things about yourself - maybe you are clever, funny, caring or kind
- Think about the good stuff in your life - you might have some good friends, family, pets or toys
- Like to think about things you enjoy such as drawing, sports or dancing
