Things you might like to try

Some things that kids have told us helped them are:

  • Thinking of ways that made the problem seem smaller
  • Remembering things they are good at
  • Doing stuff that got them away from the problem for a while
  • Doing a fun activity
  • Trying something new or that they hadn't done for a while
  • Talking to friends or family about the problem
  • Asking an adult for help
  • Ringing Kids Helpline

When you are going through a tough time, it can be really useful to think about things that might help you, for example, you might:

  • Remember some good things about yourself - maybe you are clever, funny, caring or kind
  • Think about the good stuff in your life - you might have some good friends, family, pets or toys
  • Like to think about things you enjoy such as drawing, sports or dancing
