Self-esteem
If you have healthy self-esteem you most likely:
- feel confident, energetic and hopeful
- believe in yourself
- feel comfortable around other people
- enjoy group things as well as doing things by yourself
- know what you are good at and what you are not so good at and are fine with both
- look for a solution rather than giving up when something goes wrong
- don't say bad things about yourself when something goes wrong, e.g. you might say 'I don't understand' rather than 'I'm stupid!'
If you have unhealthy self-esteem you most likely:
- feel unhappy a lot of the time
- feel like you aren't as good as other people
- don't have much confidence
- put yourself down, even when someone gives you a compliment
- give up easily when you are trying new things
- are easily disappointed in yourself
- don't look for solutions when things go wrong
- say bad things about yourself, for example, 'I'm stupid' or 'I'm dumb'
