Foster care
Do you still get to see your Mum and Dad?
Lots of kids in foster care miss their mum and dad and want to see them, even if what was happening at home wasn't very good.
Usually kids still get to spend time with their parents as long as the case worker feels that it will be okay. Often, to make sure that kids are safe, the case worker will stay with the kid when they visit their parents to make sure everything goes smoothly.
What about brothers and sisters?
The Government always tries to keep brothers and sisters together if they can, but sometimes it doesn't work out. This is often because foster carers only have space for a few kids and, if lots of kids in a family need to go into foster care, they may have to live in separate houses. If this happens, the case worker will usually try to arrange visits so that the kids still get to see each other.
